These are my initial design plans for my soon to be created rock music magazine contents page, I may not apply all of these ideas to my final production, and furthermore as you can see in the two images above I used this Kerrang! Double page spread as a foundation to base by design plan around as I believe that it was an especially effective rock music magazine double page spread.

Firstly I intend on using a greyscale effect across my double page spread, especially upon each of the images, because I feel that using greyscale effectively and then partnering it with vibrant colours such as red is an effective tool when making individual features stand out independantly.

I will be featuring several secondary images upon my double page spread of the band I intend on using as my feature article and double page spread in order to provide maximum coverage of the band and make it more visually attractive as I intend on making this page as entertaining as possible, therefore having several individual eye catching images, will be a useful tool in terms of retaining my readers attention and keeping them entertained.

Furthermore I will also be including small features that sometimes go unnoticed such as a drop cap, a by line, stand first and picture captions. I believe that these are must have features for any double page spread because even though they don't particularly stand out, they will make the double page spread stand out further as a whole and cause it to appear complete, highly detailed and therefore professional. In addition these features are also useful tools for readers when for example you are interested in the photographers work (by line), want to know what is going on within an image (picture captions), want to know what the article is basically going to be about (stand first) or need help identifying where to start reading from (drop cap).

Moreover I also intend on using a main image very similar to the one used on the Kerrang! double page spread as I feel that it consumes the space well, looks attractive and is also highly relevant due to the fact that the model within the picture is clearly a rock music artist, I intend on having my model wear dark clothes, as well as using a microphone as a prop, all whilst looking naturalistic by singing into the mic in order to make them really appear as a rock music artist, therefore making my magazine more attractive, and professional.

I intend on featuring a news bar in the top left hand corner of the spread, partnered with a banner stating that this article is a world exclusive, I also intend to put a link to my rock music magazines website, to make it appear more professional and realistic.

I intend on featuring a list of the featured bands 'top tracks' I believe this is a strong feature as it will make my spread and band appear more realistic as if they were actually band, therefore increasing the professionalism of the spread as a whole.

Finally I intend on using a pull out quote, from the actual article itself, im not too sure as to what it is going to be yet, I will use the quote as a title for the page, making red. Using a vibrant red will cause the pull quote to really stand out on the page especially as I intend on using a predominantly grey scale colour palette throughout.
