Chosen Images

Front Cover Main Image

Front Cover Main Image

I chose to use this as my main image due to the direct address that is created from the models looking into the camera and the centre model pointing into the camera with the microphone. Furthermore all of the models within the shot fall into the criteria of a 'stereotypical' rock artist, that being white, male, dark haired and dressed in dark clothing.

Contents Page Main Image

I chose to use this as my main image for my contents page as it is relevant and links to both my front cover and double page spread (feature article), it is relevant and links as this model is one of the members that make up the feature band 'The Slayers'. Furthermore this image is also effective due to the use of the guitar as a prop as it links directly to the genre and will therefore attract the target audience.

I chose to use this image within my contents page as part of a promotional offer. The use of this image provides a visual insight into what my readers could win.

Front Cover Secondary Image

Front Cover Secondary Image

I chose to use this image as a secondary image upon my front cover because it is an effective image due to the fact that there is an awkward sense of direct address, it is awkward for the reader because it appears that the model can see the reader but the reader cant see the model due to the mask, this creates a sense of mystery and tension and therefore entices the reader to find out more about the magazine.

I chose to use this image as a secondary image upon my double page spread because I believe that it is an effective image, that captures some of the models that make up my feature article 'band'. Using this as a secondary image to support my feature article will prove to be effective because it will enforce and remind readers that they are reading about a band and what band they are reading about, therefore they will always be thinking back to the article.

I have chosen to use this image as a secondary image upon my DPS much like the other secondary images I have chosen to use this image in order to make the spread more aesthetically pleasing and more visually interactive for the reader.

DPS Main Image

DPS Main Image

I have chosen to use this image as the main image for my DPS as I feel that it is especially effective and fit for purpose. Firstly because it is a naturalistic pose that uses the space well therefore making it a good candidate for the main image for my spread as I want it to consume the left side of the page and be the focal point for my readers.

Editors Image

Editors Image

I have chosen to partner this image of myself alongside my editors message, in order to make the message more personal and the page more professional appearing.

I have chosen to use this image as a secondary image upon my DPS much like the other secondary images I have chosen to use this image in order to make the spread more aesthetically pleasing and more visually interactive for the reader. Moreover I have also used this image to show a more producing side to the band rather than performing.

DPS Main Image

I edited this image by firstly applying a grey scale filter to the overall image, I then chose a darker grey than that of the model and then proceeded to remove the background using a brush tool. Whilst using the brush tool I carefully manoeuvred around the model leaving about half a cm of space between him and the brush, by doing this I was able to create an effective glowing affect.

For editing this picture I simply removed the unnecessary third model within the photo (the one on the right) using an eraser tool. I then used a background eraser tool to crop round the two models in the image so that there was no background.

Microphone

As you can see in my final double page spread I edited this microphone into the hand of my model within the main image, in order to provide a more realistic final image and over final double page spread.
